BIOGRAPHY

Dave Mahoney has been a Dane County resident since 1973. In 1976 while attending high school Dave received training as an Emergency Medical Technician. After graduating from Madison Memorial High School in 1977 Dave began his public service career by joining the Middleton Emergency Medical Service. He remained with the service until 1985.

In 1978 Dave became a Police Dispatcher with the Middleton Police Department , and a year later joined the Cross Plains Police Department as a Patrol Officer. Dave's career with the Dane County Sheriff's Office began in 1980 when he joined the department, working in the jail, Bailiff's office, and on patrol. Five years later Dave was promoted to the position of Detective - a position he still holds today. Dave was one of the first Domestic Violence Investigators and has also worked on sex crimes and general assignment cases.

Dave and his wife Kathleen have two sons - Patrick and Sean.

Having directed major homicide and drug investigations and served as a member of the first Sheriff’s Office Domestic Violence Investigation Unit, Dave knows that it takes teamwork and coordination to deal with our most serious crime problems. As a state and national labor leader he knows that it takes cooperation between labor and management to achieve greatness.
